My Tech Predictions (Wish List) for 2010

I’m no a prophet or anything like that, but here are my predictions / wish list for this upcoming year:

TECHNOLOGY

Cloud Computing & Virtualization will double in usage by businesses.
Mobile & web analytics will play a larger role in business intelligence.
Consumer’s consumption of digital media (music, movies, games, etc…) will be at an all-time high. More networks will broadcast TV shows & sports online, in real-time. Netflix will have full online distribution.
Traditional media publishing (printed newspapers/magazines) outlets will continue taking several hard losses & 25% will close up shop or go online distribution only.
Online education for schools & universities will see a new highs in terms of students, profits & the technology wars will really heat up in this arena.
Adobe will establish itself as THE ubiquitous media platform.
General consumers realize augmented reality == FAIL. Don’t get me wrong I think AR has a number of applications for the military and other occupations, but I think for the general consumers its fluff.

MOBILE

An eBook Reader that does more than just read PDFs for the price of a Cadillac.
Multi-touch, personal mobile devices (i.e. iPhone & Droid) will continue to grow & dominate the market.
Google will release its GPhone (Android of course).
Apple will see a nice growth in sales of iPhone & computers this year & Apple will open its doors to other service providers (about damn time).
There will be less concern with desktop operating systems (Mac OS X & Windows 7) and more focus on operating systems that can do that same tasks from the convenience of your hand.

eLearning 3.0 blog dedicated to the wonderful world of eLearning technologies and methodolgies. I began the eLearning30.com blog because of the numerous emails i received in response to a post (eLearning 3.0 = “Edutainment”) I made on my this blog.

About the eLearning 3.0 Blog

While the term “eLearning 3.0″ not clearly defined YET the purpose this elearning 3.0 blog is to hopefully shed some light on what it will be and introduce the new methodologies & technologies that will improve the realm of digital learning for both the students and the trainers.

A few of the topics that will be covered in this blog collaborative learning, edutainment, social learning, the history of eLearning, and so much more. We will post interviews with industy leaders, as well as help keep you up-to-date on news and events happening in the eLearning world.

The Problem!
Ok, when most people here eLearning they associate it with boring computerized, voice-over PowerPoint presentations on sexual harassment. Sure its cheap to produce, but who really learns from these training products?

Want a solution?
In the next version of eLearning its going to be more about “edutainment”.

3 Suggestions for eLearning 3.0:

Add humor
Make the training interactive.
Build a training community, so that learning continues after the training is done.
