What If this time next year no traditional newspapers, magazine and book publishers exist, but your news & entertainment came directly your mobile device?

Print journalism has been one of the largest dying industries for years now! There are reports that state that Journalism Degrees are in serious decline. Newspaper, magazines, book publishers, etc… have cut number of staff, publications and budgets dramatically. Many have even closed their doors within the last 36 months for a multitude of reasons including:

They can’t deliver printed content in a timely fashion. Due to the rising number bloggers, news channels that have gone online and social media site.

People do not want to pay for their news when it is freely available online and on-demand.

The overhead (resources, payroll and materials) to print content costs at least 50% (if not more) than a digital publication.

So I propose “What If” this time next year no traditional newspapers, magazine and book publishers exist, but rather all of your news, information and entertainment came directly to your email or mobile device? How would that change your life? Would it be better? Would it be worse?

Digital technologies such as blogs, website, content management systems, RSS feeds, etc… have given the information publishing businesses an incredible edge that is not only greener, but less time consuming and better Return-On-Investment (ROI).

According to Wikipedia.org, Net Neutrality is, “a principle that is applied to residential broadband networks, and potentially to all networks. A neutral broadband network is one that is free of restrictions on the kinds of equipment that may be attached, on the modes of communication allowed, which does not restrict content, sites or platforms, and where communication is not unreasonably degraded by other communication streams.” – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality

In laymans terms there is the rumored possibility that large Internet Service Providers (ISP) are planning on regulating the internet to better benefit their companies.

Here is a group from Belgium I believe that are very enthusiastic about this particular topic. Here is a video they created on posted on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2XPiqhN_Ns

Most people have the innate wanting to be apart of something larger than themselves. A way to give back and improve quality of life for themselves as well as those around them.

I find myself at this point right now! I want to be apart of something large than I. Not in a bragging fashion I know that I’m a fairly bright individual with so many ideas on topics such as business, education, and how to improve my community/world. I’ve been reading a fabulous little book, "We Are Smarter Than Me" by Barry Libert & Jon Spector

I’ve realized a couple of issues there with me having ideas…

First, I am only one person. As a single unit, an individual, I am limited to what I can do in the time I am awake in a days.

Second, there are millions of people out there like me! People around the world have absolutely brilliant ideas, but like me they run into an issue they are one single individual. Its difficult, not impossible, to get your voice heard as an individuals, but now imagine get 10 people shouting the same thing. That reaches out to another 5 people. Now there are 15 people shouting. Naturally the more people shouting the louder they will be heard.

Third, I am a smart fellow, but not the smartest. This was humbling, but in the same sense extremely encouraging! While I may not be the smartest, I still have value ideas and I come from a different viewpoint that some other people because of my upraising, technical background, friends, personal experiences, place I’ve visited, etc… Think of it as everyone has a story, some similar and others totally opposite. Different places, characters, timeframes, education, but thus everyone still has a story. This story affects the way they approach problem solving.

This has provoked me to start planning a community of contagious discussion to hopefully impact the world’s food issues, medicals problems, energy crisis, and the faulty educational systems.

I , myself , can’t do this myself, but WE can! If you are interested in helping please leave a comment hear and we will connect and we can discuss how we are going to do this.
